Avaldati 5 dets 2019
Hello friends! So as some of you may know, I am engaged, betrothed, and affianced - and so I hereby introduce you to part 1 of our 4 part wedding video series! Being the fashion history enthusiast that I am, I decided to do a little exploration into wedding dresses through history and try on 5 authentic vintage wedding dresses (with era-appropriate hairstyling, makeup, and bouquets to boot!) - ranging from the Victorian Era to the 1980s! Which look was your favorite?

  • My grandparents are both over 90 and that has ruined my sense of time

  • The crown on the second look reminded me of the Disney movie Anastasia

  • My grandma got married in 1961

  • Rice throwing inside-great! Please use birdseed or bubbles outside!

  • 60s look Saf: Big hair Me: Did someone say big Cher

  • why did we skip the 50's lol

  • Wouldn’t the 1920s head piece be worn further down on the head?

  • When she was talking about all the 1940 stuff I just couldn’t hell thinking of Agent Carter from Captain American

  • Why do I love the first dress I want that!

  • This video is a literally A GEM 💎 I can’t believe I stumbled across this 💛 thank you for this 🙏 💛 💛

  • the faux fur one is soooo jersey

  • Victorian is way too big

  • I think the 80's wedding dresses are hideous

  • I love your videos you guys. I hope you both have a happy life & may God bless you.❤🙏

  • I wasnt enamoured with Princess Diana's wedding dress really. It to me was just gaudy. So big. It must have weighed a ton. I liked Kate Middleton's dress much better & Pippa's.

  • I love watching you both interacting! very obvious sweethearts but not in a tacky sickly way- in a fresh zesty way. sooooo- what I'm saying in a weird lovely way is you guys are GREAT 😊

  • I loved this!!

  • My mother in law got married in a navy blue below the knee pencil skirt, white short sleeve dressy blouse with white gardenia corsage.her groom wore his air force dress uniform..

  • I got married in early 70’s. My white gauze and cotton peasant style dress had small puff baby sleeves trimmed in satin ribbon an lace. The dress was empire waist with satin ribbon around the waist. The botton of the dress had lace also. I wore an embroidered daisy chain head band. My groom wore beige crepe poet style shirt tucked into tight low rise hip hugger bell bottoms in tan.He had a wide brown on brown satin tapestry tie. He had long wavy hair . We are still married!

  • Timestamps for all the dresses

  • Crimpetrol

  • Karolina Zebrowska needs to see this lol

  • why does elizabeth taylor look like emma chamberlin??????

  • The eminent hubcap mostly grease because literature temporarily drown until a invincible breakfast. unaccountable, elfin eggplant

  • So much fun. I remember sewing up one of those 80's style wedding dresses for a friend. Pearls. Over 1,300 pearls. It was beautiful, but a lot of pearls. LOL

  • Over the top presenting!!!spoilt this turned off.

  • The 40s dress is so great!

  • In they twenties they still wore corsets. It was just more a straight corset since they were aiming for the more masculine body shape, so to do that, they needed a more straight silhouette so they constructed a type of corset that would do that for them.

  • I watched princess Diana’s in her own words and she was talking about how she was hoping she didn’t “crunch” down the aisle as there were so many beads on the dress!! love it

  • I'm just passing by - wanted to say thank you for including African-American couples. Others probably said this already but i wasn't about to look thru all the comments ;)

  • Safiya: this dress will outlive us all Me: Queen Elizabeth will also outlive us all

  • I love your videos there so sunny and cool

  • can we just talk about how freaking beautiful safiya looked in every single dress like holy no joke shes honestly gorgeous

  • She really killed the sixties look

  • I want that 1920 crown!

  • I feel like Safiya’s argumentative essays in highschool were all A++

  • 20s 40s and 60s were my favorites mainly the 40s that was so elegant

  • 16:10 that COULD be asked

  • 10:13 In Spanish the word "wife" is the same as "handcuffs"

  • 19:39 I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe 😂 what is that??

  • I got serious bellatrix vibes from the 1890s hairdo

  • My uncle got married in the early 1970's and his bride wore a white lacy jumpsuit!

  • When my uncle got in the early 1870's he wore a three piece pin striped navy suit with a shirt and no tie. His bride wore a white lacy jack suit.

  • when tyler says:"are you doing the carlton" Me:"Doing the carlton dance"

  • I love the office references on this channel lol

  • I needed to revisit this after bingeing all of the Diana episodes of the Crown this week... it’s one of my favorites! If you ever decide to do a fashion history show, I’m all in!

  • did you know in the 40s during the war women didn’t have skin tone affecting stockings so they would cover their legs with the gravy

  • my mom had a puffy wedding dress that i kept running into

  • Just a reminder if you're wondering about corsets they are not deathtraps thrust upon women by the patriarchy, simply, they were bras essentially. Their purpose was to hold up the bust, while also being in style with current silhouette trends. Yeah some people, usually the upper class who didn't have to work, tightlaced themselves to achieve a super tiny waist and it was scandalous. Controversial. Probably why the misconception has perpetuated until today.

  • I got married in the 89 - My dress was similar to your 80's one. I look at it now and I can't believe how horrid it was lol

    • I think I saw a picture of my aunt in a similar dress once. It's kinda weird how the fashion changed in those 20 year gaps, like from the forties to the sixties, what happened there? Then from the sixties to the eighties, hold on, what happened there?

  • School is a great 😌 you even

  • I love the 1960ths dress

  • In the 1980s Princess Diana's wedding dress set the trend for the decade and that's so trueee haha. All my aunts had a simmilar style for their own weddings and they even cut their hair like her

  • 1920s Shin length dresses are like wearing lingerie in public and not being a hooker

  • I love how safiya always do some research everytime they make her contents

  • That 1940s dress❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • At 1:07, when she edited "big ole' dowry chest", before I red that, I thought that was a coffin...

  • The “apron thingy” I think is a peplum I’m not certain and I don’t mean to shame anyone
