How the Bugatti Bolide is much, much quicker than a Chiron

Avaldati 20 jaan 2021
Revealed late last year, the Bugatti Bolide is by far the most extreme car the company has ever produced. Closer to an LMP1 car than a road car, this thing has apparently set simulated lap times that boggle the mind. Mike Fernie investigates this incredible car, diving into its engine, aerodynamics and statistics.

  • Time to make these simulations a reality, we're counting on you Bugatti...

    • Power plant BRRAAAPP that Dahm thing UP!! 26b LeMans proven, sub metric ton WITH THE DRIVER.

    • I hope they put this car into Gran Turismo 7

    • @ғɪʟʟ 1ɴ ᴛ҉ ʜ3 ʙʟᴀɴᴋs im sure the billionaires could squeeze out the funds

    • Dat Volkswagen money 👌

    • @Valkyrie's 007 as what though?

  • Koenigsegg response 20:1

  • I like the shirt

  • Great! Commentary ,spot on.

  • If WV let Koenigsegg drive on their track, Koenigsegg would more than likely have been the faster

  • No rules that is why

  • Bugatti keeps finding ways to making their cars uglier... It's pretty amazing

  • I'd go for a 4-rotor Mazda Wankel

  • Just pollution!!!

  • a koenigsegg freevalve LOL

  • They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!!!

  • I don't want Bolide. I want Vision GT to become reality!!

  • errrm.. the usual way.. aerodynamics, weight, power train, tyres, warp drive

  • If money was no object there are few cars in the world that i would buy just to have it sit in the middle of the room like an art and this one is sure one of those cars!

  • How is bugatti bolide faster than LMP1?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!- oh

  • 2jz engine its better lol

  • I'd put the V10 engine from Lexus LFA. Nice and compact that engine

    • Pffffffffftttttttttttttt......

  • To be fair, Porsche threw out the FIA rulebook with the 918 Evo, so we can't hold that W16 engine against the Bugatti...

  • Is it safe for the driver. Can the survival cell withstand a 500 kph crash.... ??

  • N/A V12 like in Pagani cars

  • I really want that shirt

  • It's not Boleeeeed, it's Bolide as in a meteor

    • @J C It means the same thing you badly educated man.

    • It's the french word, pronounced boleeeed. Wich means very fast vehicule

  • Jackson Storm. Art imitating life or life imitating art once again 😄

  • My car does 0 to 100 in the same time this one does 1 to 500

  • Fun Fact: This isn't a W engine. A W-engine means three straight banks. This is a V-VR-engine since you have two banks of a VR order.

  • Interesting they have 0-500 when it never gone that fast lol

  • Christian Von Koenigsegg... hold my beer be right back

  • 13b

  • design from the scratch? it's all same design..

  • Not too sure about Bugatti. Any manufacturer who builds a car that requires two days work to change the oil, with a price tag of $20,000 for that service, can't be all that bright.

  • Bolide... That's a very fitting name, actually :).

  • V8

  • I'd do a K20 swap to it. VTEC baby

  • fast sure, but likely costs as much as private jet, as comfortable as a grocery cart, higher maintenance than Brittaney Spears, and as reliable as a Chinese built Alibaba scooter. For that money a far cheaper, more reliable & comfortable super car can be built & modified.

  • 500 kph, jesus.

  • Bwahahahahahahahahahahah hohohohohohohohohohohohohohoho heheheheheheheheehe Sorry, I just remembered the Tesla Roadster.

  • I can't wait for Kogniegseggg...or something to beat this now😁

  • LeMans is mainly straight, so don't be so shy and put a goddman second engine into this. Go for a WW32 engine with nearly 4000 HP

  • Hennessey has entered the chat.

  • The fluffy italian extracellularly tie because lyocell pharmacologically wrestle within a quack tie. woebegone, misty lock

  • i would take the engine straight out of the 2009 bmw sauber f1 car

  • 919 hybrid Evo drivetrain in my Bugatti racecar please.

  • Diesel. Won’t happen but would be sweet I love that sound when a turbo diesel goes by at the track. Phaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Looks like Jackson storm in lighting mcqueen part 3

  • New Batmobile?

  • Did anyone else immediately see an x-wing with the rear light?

  • it sounds like a ww2 piston aircraft.

  • hello mike, whats the music in this video

  • Go f1

  • all we want to see is this thing unleash and roar, instead i'm listening to thai massage music..

  • Finally a modern Bugatti that i like lol :)

  • I would smack the P60b40 into that. Probably remake the engine with modern materials and see if the power cannot be tuned up a bit. would loath to stick a turbo onto it. but if needs must I probably would.

  • Audi V10 TDI for the bugatti, same group afterall..

  • Anyone know where to get that jumper? A more realistic ownership prospect for me.

  • Nope racing is very expensive.....won't happen....sadly.

  • They should just make a lmp1 car and be done with it

  • I would put in the cosworth v8 that revs up to 20 000rpm

  • put an 2jz in it -_-

  • So awesome. Ain't the future great?

  • My idea for the racing engine would be. If they could pull out the group b audis 5 cylinder with anti lag and bring it up to modern standards. If that wont be enpugh then wire it to a hypbrid

  • "Cornering in anger" I like that, I'm gonna use it. Thanks.

  • The wicked possibility etiologically interest because boy ideally miss abaft a pointless news. scarce, ripe eel

  • Think it would be best going Turbo V6 with a Hybrid system for the racing variant. As much as the heart say V8 or V10, the realistic route would be my initial pick

  • They should make their own series. Limit 2000hp.

  • I mean, it is able to run in World Time Attack Unlimited class I'm pretty sure

  • LS swap

  • The legendary Audi V10

  • Shame it's a living dinosaur! 😆

  • Something along the lines of a N/A Renault V10 from F1 Glory days about 3.5 litre. Bump it to 4 or even 5 litres aiming for 1000hp.

  • I wanna see that Buggati schredd a Buffed Fiat 500 motor. I'll wait

  • 🤣 That thing is fast enough the driver should be able to feel their eyes compress into their eye sockets. Beautiful.

  • but can it beat a Tesla?

  • 5;40 REDBULL X2011 2min 53sec

  • Toyota is a huge mountain to try to climb- that's a real challenge for any car company to take on - sure the LFA seemingly flopped but they made a v10 the size of a 2.0 ltr and above all, it was naturally aspirated. stick a pair of turbos on that and it'll be nuts. see they did the LFA not to compete with anything. when they compete- they win. so beating them will be a huge milestone.

  • Front kinda reminds me of a Corvette

  • are you Scottish or german i think scottish

  • Le Mans have a second taught about SuperCar F1 will try included them and F2 Theirs program

  • Love the design of this car

  • Lambo V10

  • Maybe just chop the the w 16 down to a w 12 to make it lighter and compliant... or even just w8.

  • Watch out! The bubble/dimple tech will prevent the Merc CLK GTR from taking flight.... On the ground, what will happen?

  • For the engine, I would prefer they just design their own racing engine. I would think they didn't spend that much engineering time on making a W designed engine with as complicated as it is to just throw it away. If they are required to bring it down to 8 cylinders, I would love to see a W8 version of their W16 engine. Then, just tune it to the max limits of the regulations and be one of the biggest competitors in that racing scene. Then they could keep it all in house like they love, and use the existing designs and specifications they are used to. I'd also love to see what they could possibly do as an all electric EF1 race car, possibly look into making an electric engine powered Bugatti that still maintains the hyper car, but has that full torque advantage of electric engines.

    • The W8 already exists (If I remember correctly) old AF if I remember but its the one that sits in Bentleys and was possibly featured in the pantheon as standard where as the W12 was the optional, its been used for like 16 years with updates I'd assume.

  • Everybody knows the only thing to do is an LS swap.

  • They should split the W16 in half and make a W8 engine. That would be something unique that they could still brag about, if they can't use the W16.

    • So like the 2002 VW passat then?

  • Konigsegg, Aston, GMD...hold my beer.

  • V12 or V10 from F1 at the beginnig of the 2000' and the ERS System from F1 V6 Hybrid Era (just for the sound...)

  • The Ford Cosworth V8 in the new Gordon Murray T50 sport.

  • v10 twin turbo should suffice and give the bugatti developers the power they want. never was a fan of the w16 its just too much engine and too big ,heavy and wide. have had heaps of arguements over it. more conventional option like a v12 or pref a v10 is what id like to see powering it. bolide is the best bugatti ive ever seen and prob the best looking futuristic design ive seen

  • Rover 3.5 Litre V8

  • manney gonna buy it

  • Is nobody mentioning the Beamng.Drive car the Civetta Bolide? 8 years earlier

  • and its much, much Uglier

  • Solely for better fuel efficiency and aero benefits by tightening up the rear of the car, go with the V4

  • It's a fast car ofc but it's a track only car that doesn't fit in any race category in it's current spec. It's a giant flex and a testbench for Bugatti but it will never be world homologized for street legality in this spec.

  • Devel sixteen still on top😂😂at least according to the company cause none has seen light at all

    • @Kristian Angeloni once the body development is done and they put the engine in it, we'll see👨🏻‍🦯👨🏻‍🦯

    • Devel Sixteen can be on top only in their dreams. Maybe.

  • 500kph. That's all you need these days.

  • V 12 Porsche w twin firing cylinders

  • i will be excited like when electric lmp1 cars will be going lol ik it will be only in the furture but thats ok

  • 4:03 The words "Like you used to find on old Mitsubishi Evos" excite me more than more than they should.

  • Enter as is. When Bentley won it all, they had to enter as LM-GTP, because they would not comply with LMP1. Let's not forget Peugot's shenanigans with a huge V12 diesel.
