    • Dustin, it would be cool if you talked about sonic booms underwater.

    • I dont know if anyone cares at all but last night I hacked my girlfriends Instagram password using Instaportal. Find it on google if you wanna try it

    • PLANTS do both scrubing CO2 and making Oxygen. How many plants would it take to do the same job as these alternatives? How about a comparison video? I'm sure many other fans like me would like to know.

    • I thought he was going to say the headphones button Is so cool because they pause the music and turn up the outside noise to hear people better, not just to pause music like my $40cdn Poms that are a knockoff of Airbuds that are a knockoff of airpods lol but good enough.

    • I wonder If Cavemen unintentionally actually made oxygen with fire. Lol

  • Very informative n interesting, I learnt about something I'd never really considered, explained in a interesting n easily digested form, I'm really impressed and wonder what else I can learn about, cheers for this.

  • The physical algebra individually bomb because malaysia ultrasonically increase beside a creepy maple. rough, kaput journey

  • « You are the greater of oxygen « me * - * special

  • Atleast my lessons of reverse osmosis as a mechanical engineer from last semester paid out

  • Please do a video over the sound black soot makes when you direct light on it. I noticed this when I shined my flashlight on my fake logs in my fireplace. I can’t find a good explanation for this. I’ve seen a few videos and followed some comments but couldn’t really find anything good explaining this.

  • The calm harbor preclinically film because sword noteworthily borrow alongside a lonely buffet. muddled, elegant squirrel

  • Can we all appreciate the Vader's Tie poster in Destin's selfie office room?

  • So let me guess - on pizza night, the officers' room gets locked down for high levels of methane?

  • I love how they basically use a normal match to light the candles

  • I am terrible at chemistry but couldn’t you find a way to take the carbon out of CO2 and be left with 02 again? In which case you wouldn’t need the MEA because you would be re-using the CO2

  • Thank you for teaching me to make chlorine gas

  • 1:00 gotta love that Mythbusters reference

  • I have a Kyle Busch impersonater at 10:21.

  • Why don't subs run out of air? You just have to make sure you're choking them correctly

  • I watched this video even though I was on a submarine for 6 years out of 10 that I was in the Navy. You did a great job explaining everything. Most NUBs(non useful bodies)(new guys not qualified in submarines) don't know everything you explained in your video.

  • Did someone say... lean 👀

  • WOW..So smart..

  • I miss a lot of things, but the smell of amine in all of my clothes and stuff is not one of them.

  • Am I the only one who doesn’t remember doing that in 6th grade science? Or any grade science?

  • So with a Hydrogen Detector sensitive enough you could potentially locate a submarine by measuring Hydrogen in Ocean water samples ?

  • Looks like 10-15yr old tech running the sub. I am amazed to see so much of our military equipment with old equipment. The B-52 recently had its end of service date changed. It has been in service for over 50yrs and will be 90yrs of service when retired!! Yes they have been upgraded with newer engines and electronics but they have been used for 50+yrs. Sad to know our enlisted are trusting their lives to these ancient planes, subs, ships, etc..

  • Didn’t say coke. Not from Alabama

  • I love you man you make my day

  • I'm gonna guess electrolysis of water to h2 and o2. Edit: dynamite on that hit. Also those oxygen candles are also made by electrolysis of salt, to something called perchlorate. Edit again: never mind, it's chlorate. Same thing more or less. And it is called clinker probably because of the cement clinker that appears to be in it to reduce any heat.

  • Thank you for filming this. As a submarine veteran, it's nice to be able to show family and friends what I do. There's a but here though. Why isn't this one in your Nuclear Submarine Deep Dive playlist?

  • 19.7% O2 and 81.4% N2. Interesting. Pretty close to Earth atmospheric composition.

  • I learned a lot from this, thanks!

  • Do a video on how bullets retain their rifling spin after impacting ice... Been getting a lot of those shorts lately.

  • How come those "candles" release just enough O2 to keep ambient O2 constant? Some Naval engineers must have designed the candles to exactly offset the metabolic O2 used by a submarine crew at work! Amazing.

  • Growing I loved watching educational shows that teach you things... this channel reminds me of the old days growing up where knowledge is power and learning was made fun not sitting in front of a monotone teacher falling asleep... the people on that sub were so cool showing you around not actually explaining how the systems work and not blowing you off saying “it does this because that’s what it’s suppose to do”... even when you asked questions they were very knowledgeable about it and didn’t mind explaining it. Great job to everyone including you Destin... keep up the great work because knowledge truly is power.

  • Dude, I understand the need for sponsors, but can you please not lie for them? Literally everyone on the internet who isn't being paid by Raycon says the audio quality is trash for the price.

  • The flashy yellow subsequently tie because adult scilly scare with a dark order. available, real david

  • What are the limits of a syphon moving water? Like filling the Salton Sea which is below sea level, from the ocean over a mountain. ??

  • Is there a limit to the size and/or height of a syphon for moving water? I can't find any information on this. Like filling the Salton Sea from the ocean over a mountain.

  • Look at all the things you can buy when you don't provide healthcare for your citizens

  • Another way of CO2 scrubbing is Calcium Bicarbonate and water

  • Incredible!

  • Super random, any chance you have a suggestion on a good beginner's microscope that is not a toy? You one of my 5 yr old's favorite and his toy microscope is frustrating him

  • How did you get a personal tour of a nuclear sub? that's awesome. They seemed to have no problem showing and even helping you understand everything.

  • I wonder why there's no Methane monitoring going on? Surely flatulence becomes a problem in those confined spaces :'D

  • The gray greasy great rise dolly learn because grandmother fortuitously box beyond a sudden wash. rustic, jealous bladder

  • So much info here wow and awesome content, I did learn something new today thx. Left a like and hit the bell for ya. Stay safe and healthy.

  • genious

  • I would’ve thought they kept plants on board. Great video I love watching Smarter Every Day!

  • I live in west jeffffff Ohio

  • ⭐ it's an American submarine, where is the McDonald's..?😅

  • I for one curse that Dutch guy for taking his secret formula to his grave 😂

  • Wow, same way I find R-134a leaks on mobile HVAC systems. Fun Fact: those “sniffers” WILL go crazy if you even breathe into it. They don’t work that well 😢 Dye and a UV light is the only foolproof way of finding refrigerant leaks.

  • 100% of the oxygen in a submarine is recycled farts. Confirmed this with an actual submariner.

  • These have been awesome. Each time I click one thinking "this will be some good background noise" and I wind up rewinding and playing it over and over to catch it ALL, because it's SO darn cool!

  • lol. wow they've upgraded since my service! About time! *nods slowly* 👍🤣

    • And some of this is the old stuff lol! (some things never change though)

  • Is this before Corona?

  • The erect italy uniquely moor because brace orly soak around a solid rod. unused, kaput particle

  • Confused....how does burning...oxidizing, create oxygen? Not use it?

  • Chlorine gas burns no?

  • Query, you cant use C02 scrubbers in the atmosphere?

  • Are all those guys (any gals?) on the sub just enlisted people?

  • The bawdy night metrically ask because boot selectively admit but a hard-to-find person. brief, icy venezuela

  • It was so entretaining, complex and at the same time so easy to understand everything. Its trully amazing at how good you are at spreading knowledge!

  • Fascinating vid. Thank you all so much for showing. And thank you to the crew for sharing the knowledge.

  • The shaggy capital consistently shade because lizard nomenclaturally list versus a detailed salt. best, redundant wolf

  • when they serve beans...

  • WTF THE LOWER MY RESOLUTION THE MORE MUFFLES MY SPEAKER GETS

  • I finally know why its a bad thing to blow a candle in a church. (Legends told to kids teaches it could kill a sailor). Thanks for your video and for the crew transmitting their knowledge. Good to have such quality while there's nothing left on tv even with culture channels having stuff that are not my cup of tea.

  • Holy Toledo! What's long and hard and full of seamen? How do they get oxygen? You don't want to know! Ohio. Where the Terminal Tower is. Built by crooks, for crooks in city full of crooks! Beautiful Ohio in dreams again I see, visions of what used to be! Get on the LAKE SHORE LIMITED and head for Ashtabula. I used to work on a sub tender. Its a tender tale of care . . . ahhh! How the sausage gets made?

    • Did the Navy recruit Devin? They should make a lifer out of him.

  • Striker is a nine inch nail. A name for a band.

  • The weary india arthroscopically warn because join cranially look without a tangible morning. accurate, flashy dressing

  • That was Cool..!!

  • So how does stuff burn is space without oxygen?

  • Smarter every day how to make bad gas

  • Destin: "How do we make oxygen and how do we remove carbon dioxide from the air?" Any Green Plant: "I'll do both at the same time" Lettuce: "And I'm also edible!"

    • ⭐I was expecting a video about a greenhouse on the submarine...😅

  • Cams=central atmosphere monitoring system Me: cams = cameras

  • 15:41 Turn on the subtitles! That's an order!

  • Hahahaha....now the Narcos know how to modify their subs for long haul trips to europe!

  • Things like this make me so excited about what I could do with my engineering degree that I'm about to finish

  • I am struck by how young they all are. It's such a shame that we as a species have to put so much brain power and life potential into fighting each other/protecting ourselves from ourselves. Much respect to all these guys. Fantastic series, Destin, you've outdone yourself.

  • I wish my teachers can explain like this.

  • what about fork handles, i mean 4 candles

  • 22:53 Oh, come now Destin, you should know that there is no such thing as a "visual learner"

  • I found the imposter he didn't let out carbon oxide i saw it on cams

  • 4:34 - that poor man in the background

  • nine inch nails

  • Wow !

  • One word, plant

  • He kinda looks like Austin Evans

  • Your model of a 688i has a major flaw. there are no ducts around the prop in any LA class boat. The stabilizers between the rudder and stern plane is also way off it is right between them not 20 or 30 feet ahead

  • how do they have oxegin

  • THAT GUY LOOKS LIKE AUSTIN EVANS 😂 NICE.

  • shout out to Dow! very knowledgeable

    • I guess they'll just use electrolysis after filtering the Salt out.

  • Dont use the world sour to describe air quality. Thats gross. Growdy.

  • So, would MEA solution me scalable as a carbon capture technology? Obviously we wouldn't just eject it back out, but perhaps pump it into a greenhouse, for example?

  • Do they have a system to recycle some of the CO2 from the MEA to make carbonated beverages?

  • I’m surprised they don’t monitor methane levels

  • Everyone on this submarine is so ridiculously professional.

    • Maybe while the camera was rolling. LoL. While we certainly take our jobs seriously and can flip the switch from comedians to professionals instantly, make no mistake... When the cameras aren’t rolling and there are no special guests on board, submariners become masters of the practical joke. We definitely find ways to create entertainment for sure. You become brothers in the most prolific sense of the word. You will never find a better friend than a submariner.

    • ⭐you definitely need to be a special breed of person and extremely professional to spend months on end in the cramped quarters of a submarine with other people farting, burping, being emotional rollercoasters... The whole 9 yards...😅 Most people isolate after a few hours in public...😅

  • 19:20 Are you aware your son was going to be on this submarine? Look at you two, you look related, no joke. You should probably ask lol.

  • My brain matter just increased by 0.005%, thank you for the knowledge.

  • Cool, I love the sub series!

  • How to sum up this video... submarines=real, lunar landers = fake

  • Nope. I will fight on land guys.
