There is a problem with this definition. It always assumes that the sender's message takes 100% of the time to get to the receiver, but the receiver replies instantly. But what if they switch roles? Shouldn't the message be instantly sent then? This would only make sense if the light's path "remained" in existence enough for the light to backtrack faster, just like water droplets connecting. And if that is true, other light in close proximity to the beam we're sending a message over should be able to "stick" to our message and garble it. Maybe we will solve this with quantum physics when our understanding of them becomes advanced enough.
Trick question, reminded me of a silly (and slightly twisted) joke from my childhood: Person 1: "What's heavier: a kilogram of cotton or a kilogram of iron?" Well wait then you gotta take into account earth's spin and east/west wouldn't work because one would be faster than the other
